ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: Colombia is the fourth largest avocado producer globally and the third largest in terms of harvested area, with a 6% share of the world area. The development and promotion of this production line represents an important source of growth in agriculture for Colombia, due to the generation of rural employment, equitable development across the different regions of the country, and due to the diversity of thermal floors and the different varieties planted. Imports of this product have decreased by 96% in the last four years from 3128 tons in 2014 to 133 tons in 2017. In recent years, the projects developed in the Colombian avocado sector have been aimed at the foreign market due to the profitability and demand of the Hass variety of this fruit. In addition, there is a state effort to implement plans for regions free of quarantine pests that allow access to foreign markets. This constitutes a strategic proposal made up of a coherent set of objectives, strategies and programmes which, based on a vision of the future, seek the initial goal of doubling the area of production. That move would ensure the technological and innovative conditions for sustainable and quality production, as well as achieve full links in international markets. This review aimed to know the main developments of avocado production in Colombia, its challenges and opportunities for the next decade.


RESUMO: A Colômbia é o quarto produtor e o terceiro em termos de área colhida, com uma participação de 6% da área mundial. O desenvolvimento e a promoção desta linha produtiva representam para a Colômbia uma importante fonte de crescimento na agricultura, para a geração de emprego e desenvolvimento rural com equidade para as diferentes regiões do país, devido à diversidade de pisos térmicos e às diferentes variedades plantadas. As importações deste produto diminuíram 96% nos últimos quatro anos, passando de 3128 toneladas em 2014 para 133 toneladas em 2017. Nos últimos anos, os projetos desenvolvidos no setor de abacate colombiano têm como objetivo o mercado externo devido à lucratividade desta fruta por sua demanda com a variedade Hass. Além disso, há um esforço estatal para implementar planos para regiões livres de pragas de quarentena que permitem o acesso a mercados estrangeiros. Dessa forma, constitui uma proposta estratégica composta por um conjunto coerente de objetivos, estratégias e programas que, com base em uma visão de futuro, buscam o objetivo inicial de duplicar a área de produção, garantindo condições tecnológicas e de inovação com alcance total nos mercados internacionais. Esta revisão tem como objetivo conhecer os principais desenvolvimentos da produção de abacate na Colômbia, seus desafios e oportunidades para a próxima década.

ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT: The gabirobeira is a species native to the Brazilian Cerrado with potential for use in cropping systems. This study evaluated the effect of the cytokinin 6-benzylaminopurine (BAP) on root cuttings of gabirobeira (Campomanesia adamantium). The plant material was obtained from gabirobeira progenies of one and two-years-old. The cuttings were segmented in 5 cm length and 1.90 to 3.22 mm diameter, immersed in the following BAP concentrations: 0.0; 1.0; 2.0 and 4.0 mg L-1 for 15 seconds and planted in trays containing the substrate Bioplant®. A complete randomized experimental design was adopted in a factorial scheme 2x4, (cuttings age x BAP concentrations) with fifteen replicates per treatment. After 140 days the number of cuttings with shoots, number of shoots, number of leaves, and diameter of the main root were evaluated. The better development of the cuttings was observed on progenies of two-years-old. The lowest cytokinin concentrations promoted the better emission and number of shoots of the progenies from both ages.


RESUMO: A gabirobeira é uma espécie nativa do Cerrado brasileiro com potencial para uso em sistemas de cultivo. O objetivo deste estudo foi avaliar o efeito da 6-benzilaminopurina (BAP) em estacas radiculares de progênies de Gabirobeira (Campomanesia adamantium). As estacas radiculares foram obtidas de progênies de Gabirobeira de um e dois anos de idade. Estes foram segmentados em 5 cm de comprimento e apresentavam entre 1,90 a 3,22 mm de diâmetro, imersos nas concentrações: 0.0; 1.0; 2.0 e 4.0 mg L-1 de BAP por 15 segundos e plantados em bandejas contendo Bioplant®. O delineamento experimental foi o inteiramente casualizado, em esquema fatorial 2x4 (idades das estacas x concentrações de BAP), com quinze repetições por tratamento. Após 140 dias, foram avaliados o número de estacas com brotações, número de brotações, número de folhas e diâmetro da raiz principal. Estacas de raízes de progênies de dois anos de idade apresentaram melhor desenvolvimento. Menores concentrações de citocinina trouxeram melhores resultados de emissão e número de brotações das progênies de ambas as idades.

ABSTRACT

Quinoa (Chenopodium quinoa Willd), being a fast economic turnaround crop with high nutritional values and which is commercially desired, has been attracting the interest of producers, but information on production costs and profitability in national markets is still lacking, preventing the expansion of the cultivation. The aim of this study was to estimate the costs of production and profitability of four varieties of quinoa in the coffee triangle region for the agribusiness market in order to give technical support in decision-making. The study was conducted in the Tesorito Farm, owned by Universidad de Caldas, located in the municipality of Manizales (Colombia). The four varieties of quinoa selected were: golden quinoa from Bolivia, yellow quinoa crop Marangani, white sweet quinoa from Soracá and sweet Aurora quinoa from Nariño. The experimental design was completely randomized (BCA) with four replications. The yield (t ha-1), estimated production costs were evaluated and the economic indicator cost benefit (RB/C) were calculated, and a sensitivity analysis was carried out. Based on the analysis model adopted, it can be inferred that the yellow quinoa crop Marangani, the white sweet quinoa from Soracá and the golden quinoa from Bolivia had a high cost-benefit relationship with 1.99, 1.59 and 2.34 respectively; thus, the cultivation of quinoa is a profitable activity, being considered a good alternative for the region.


La quinua (Chenopodium quinoa Willd) al ser un cultivo de rápido retorno económico, con altos valores nutritivos y apetecido comercialmente, viene despertando el interés de los productores, pero todavía falta información sobre los costos de producción y su rentabilidad en los mercados nacionales, impidiendo una expansión del cultivo. El objetivo de este estudio fue estimar los costos de producción y rentabilidad de cuatro variedades de quinua en la región del eje cafetero, para el mercado agroindustrial, con el fin de dar un respaldo técnico en la toma de decisiones. El estudio se llevó a cabo en la Granja Tesorito, propiedad de la Universidad de Caldas, ubicada en el municipio de Manizales (Colombia). Las cuatro variedades fueron: Dorada de Bolivia, Amarilla de Marangani, Blanca dulce Soracá y Aurora dulce Nariño. El diseño experimental fue en bloques completos al azar (BCA) con cuatro repeticiones. Fue evaluado el rendimiento (t ha-1), estimados los costos de producción y calculados los indicadores económicos: relación beneficio costo (RB/C) y un análisis de sensibilidad. Por el modelo de análisis adoptado se puede inferir que las variedades Amarilla de Marangani, Blanca dulce Soracá y Dorada de Bolivia presentaron una alta relación beneficio costo con 1,99, 1,59 y 2,34 respectivamente; así, el cultivo de quinua es una actividad rentable, siendo considerada una buena alternativa para cultivo en la región.

ABSTRACT

Objective: Determine the activity of cortisol in rats treated with exogenous adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) and a resveratrol supplement. Methodology:Forty-eight adult male rats and 16 adult female rats (Rattus norvegicus) three months old with a body weight of 200 to 250g and 300 to 350g for both male and female were used and kept in controlled environmental conditions, temperature of 20±2°C and light-dark cycles of 14 and 10 hours. They were fed with balanced food and had free access to water. The rats were randomly divided into four groups: group 1, was treated with 5 µg/kg of ACTH i.p. every twelve hours; group 2, received the same treatment with ACTH plus a grape extract supplementation of 40 mg/kg; group 3, only received grape extract and group 4,served as control and only received saline solution (0.9%) i.p. The experimental was designed as a 2×2 factorial with two ACTH levels and two extract grape levels. Results:Significant differences were not found in cortisol concentrations for day, gender or treatment effects (0.75ug/dL ± 0.11; p<0.001).


Objetivo: Determinar la actividad de cortisol en ratas tratadas con hormona adrecorticotropa (ACTH) exógena y un suplemento de resveratrol.Metodología:Se utilizaron 48 ratas hembras adultas y 16machos de la cepa wistar (Rattus norvegicus) de tres meses de edad y con un peso corporal de 200-250g y 300-350 g, para hembras y machos, respectivamente, que permanecieron en condiciones ambientales controladas, temperatura 20±2°C de ciclos de luz-oscuridad de 14 y 10 horas, respectivamente.Se les proporcionó alimento balanceado con libre acceso a agua. Las ratas fueron divididas en cuatro grupos al azarasí: grupo 1, fue tratado con 5 µg/kg de ACTH i.p. cada 12 horas; grupo 2, recibió el mismo tratamiento con ACTH además de una suplementación oral de 40 mg/kg de extracto deshidratado de uva (resveratrol); grupo 3, solo recibió extracto de uva y el grupo 4,recibió solución salina y sirvió como control y (0,9%) i.p. y oral. El diseño experimental fue en factorial 2×2, con dos niveles de ACTH y dos niveles de polifenol. Resultados: No se encontraron diferencias significativas del cortisol sanguíneo, con respecto al día y sexo, entre los tratamientos (0,75ug/dL ± 0,11; p<0,001). Conclusión: Los resultados sugieren que el estrés crónico y el consumo de resveratrol no alteran directamente los niveles plasmáticos de cortisol, en ratas estresadas y no estresadas. De la misma manera que, posiblemente la dosis utilizada de ACTH no produjo estimulación de la glándula suprarrenal en las ratas.
